I love doing post-wedding portrait sessions, especially with a couple as romantic and lovely as Katie & Jason. We did this portrait session a couple of months after their fall 2012 wedding. We started at their darling East Nashville cottage, and moved on to Shelby Bottoms park at sunset. Enjoy!

Katelynn & Andy were married at Scarritt Bennett Chapel in Nashville, Tennessee on a cold February evening. The bride described her wedding as “1920s gypsy marrying into money in Paris.” I just fell in love with this couple and their lovely families. I had an incredible time photographing their day, from the beautiful details to the big moments. The reception, held at Houston Station, was absolutely stunning. Monica Holmes at the Clean Plate Club was the caterer and event designer. She did a lovely job of pulling together the best elements, including lighting from Bright, to create a magical reception. Other contributors to the decor included Southern Events Party Rental, flowers by Gina at Bloom, and cupcakes by The Painted Cupcake.

2012 was such a fantastic year for La Photographie. I photographed eleven unique and beautiful weddings, and I have been delighted to show them off throughout the year. To celebrate last year’s great moments, I am holding my 3rd Annual Best Wedding Photo of the Year Contest.

End of the World Wedding: Julie & Robert | Nashville Wedding Photographer

Julie and Robert had the most rocking wedding on the winter solstice this past December. When this fun couple first told me their wedding date was to be the day of the supposed Mayan apocalypse – December 21, 2012 – I had a good laugh with them and knew I’d enjoy photographing their wedding.

They were married at the Epic Center in Gallatin, TN, with a ceremony officiated by Elvis himself! The pinup and rockabilly touches were a fantastic way to pull the decor together. Everything was seamless, from the vintage Chevy truck, to the music by local favorites Hillbilly Casino, to the tattoo-inspired cake by Signature Cakes by Vicki, and the milkshake-style table centerpieces. Of course the gorgeous bride’s style really shines. Check out that homemade brooch bouquet, which was such a hit. A bride with two dresses and a birdcage veil is after my own heart! Other fun stuff included the custom Jones soda bottles, the DIY melted record flower bases, and their impressive choreographed dance performance that everyone enjoyed.

My favorite part of photographing their wedding was seeing their big families come together. It was truly a special evening to be a part of and I’m so happy to finally be showing off these photographs. Enjoy!

Emily & Murray | Nashville Wedding Photography

Emily & Murray’s wedding was an absolute delight to photograph. From the laid back & gorgeous couple, to their friendly and accommodating families, as well as the amazing event space RUBY, which I highly recommend. What a gorgeous and classy venue! Emily’s wardrobe (dress by J. Crew, capelet by BHLDN, and shoes by Anthropologie) were sweet and fit perfectly with the barn-chic decor at the wedding. The bridesmaids dresses were also J. Crew, while the gentlemen wore Jos A Bank. The florist, Anne Trabue, did an amazing job with the lush floral arrangements, and Nashville Event Lighting made the ceremony and reception area glow with the gorgeous light you see here.

Carrie & Sean | Downtown Nashville Wedding

Sean & Carrie were married at the Cannery in early November, and we had a lot of fun using the inside of the Cannery, High Watt, and Mercy Lounge for their photographs. Carrie and I met several years ago: I took her maternity portraits when she was pregnant with her son Miles. She and Sean welcomed their daughter Carson a couple of years later, and when they started planning their wedding, Carrie called on me to be the photographer. I can’t express how happy it makes me to capture these moments for such great people. I love everything about this wedding, from the bride’s shoe choice (Chuck Taylors), to the adorable faces of their two children. Enjoy!

Another special shout out to GiGi, my assistant and photo booth operator. She takes darn good photos and I’m happy to have her on board!

Amanda & Lewis | Nashville Wedding Photography

Lewis & Amanda were married on a gorgeous November day at Owen Chapel in Franklin, TN and held their reception at the Bound’ry in Nashville. This couple and their families were so amazing to be around and photograph. I loved all of the details, from the purple and white lily bouquets to the bubbles used as Lewis & Amanda made their church exit. The reception dance floor was jumping, and I must say, the Bound’ry made best meal I’ve ever eaten at a wedding! Congratulations Lewis & Amanda!

Katie & Jason’s 1920s Themed Nashville Wedding

Katie & Jason were married at Marathon Music Works on Saturday October 15. With a gorgeous bride and groom and a 1920′s theme, this wedding was classy and elegant. Katie and Jason are both overflowing with style and friendliness, and their wedding and reception reflected these attributes. Katie’s makeup is by Kris Starr, and the wedding cake is by Sweet Serenades. Congrats Katie & Jason!

Christa & Brian | Tennessee Wedding Photography

What a fun and lovely wedding this was! Christa & Brian were married on October 6 in Blue Springs Creek, Tennessee. The unique property had a covered bridge, which I loved using in the photographs. Christa made her own wedding dress and veil, and I absolutely love it! Such a perfect silhouette, and the blue heels really made the outfit. Other fun details included Brian’s Star Wars tie, the confetti explosion when they kissed at the end of the ceremony, the adorable thumbprint tree guest book, their two small wedding cakes, and – my favorite – the yarn poms that Brian made for the decor. DIY heaven! Congrats Christa & Brian!
